The thing is… you sort of woke up a little late from your cryosleep only to find yourself 55 million light years from your home planet, being pulled increasingly rapidly towards your cosmic quarry. Hop in your escape pod, use the resources, avoid traps along the way, and GTFO before you become spaghetti.
Background
My first game!!! I started working on the concept for Messy 87 for CalArts x Coursera’s Intro to Game Design course, incorporating concepts such as balancing rules/systems, narrative context, and NPCs over the course of 3 iterations. I also refined and clarified instructions, and included 4 different outcomes for crossing over the event horizon - one of which is even considered a win! - for better replay value.
